South Mediterranean Business associations: more and more women as leaders

The top figures of the three central business organizations in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia are all women. In line with the UfM (Union for the Mediterranean) action, that gives women a key role to stabilize the national societies and support an enduring development in the Mediterranean area

They’re three, they’re women, they’re entrepreneurs and they’re at the guide of central business organizations of Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. They are, respectively, Wided Bouchmaoui - the President of the UTICA and Nobel Prize for Peace in 2015 as a member of the Quartet for the Tunisian national dialogue (in the photo, on the top), Meriem Ben Salah Chakroun, President of CGEM-Morocco (in the photo, on the bottom left) and Saida Neghza, President of CGEA-Algeria (in the photo, on the bottom right).

Moreover, Jihen Boutiba Mrad, Secretary General of Businessmed – the organization that brings together and represents the Euro-Mediterranean confederations of industries – is a woman.

A very determined entrepreneurial female class is therefore establishing itself at the top of the South Mediterranean business association system, in line with the action of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), that gives women a key role to stabilize the national societies and support an enduring development in the Mediterranean area.

The roles and challenging tasks of these top figures will be the discussion at the heart of the Third Conference for women's autonomy organized by the UfM, that will take place in Barcelona from 10 to 11 October 2016.

Design is a thought activity: we should not replace it with a mere “optimizing” approach, because it’s from imperfections that talent emerges.
