Art, culture and identity for ICS Europe 2014

The European phase of the International Communication Summit has come to its second edition. The upcoming appointment is on September 24th in Brussels to discuss and reflect about the growing potentials of a communication dedicated to the theme of heritage

“This rich heritage we share in Europe is a vital part of our collective identity. It reminds us of who we are as Europeans. It promotes growth and fosters social inclusion. It attracts tourism. It helps build confidence in local communities”. The words of Androulla Vassilliou, current Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism, Sport, Media and Youth, show a growing European interest for heritage, a field designated to receive important EU funding and where communication will be called to perform a key role.

For this reason, heritage communication will be a central theme of the next ICS Europe appointment programmed for September 24th at the Bibliothèque Solvay in Brussels.

After the 2013 edition, which had among its participants web strategist of “Obama for America” Harper Reed, the social innovation expert Geoff Mulgan and Chinese best seller writer Jung Chang, ICS Europe confirms to be the key forum for a debate outstanding importance. The panel, continuously updated, will host some of the greatest international communication experts like Monsignor Paul Tighe, secretary of the Pontifical Council for Social Communication, and Stephen Clark, Head of Communications for Relations with Citizens at the European Parliament.

Design is a thought activity: we should not replace it with a mere “optimizing” approach, because it’s from imperfections that talent emerges.
